Kate Sayers, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Pronouns: She / Her / Hers

I take special care to create a healing space that feels safe, culturally affirming, and nonjudgmental.

I believe that at their core, people are kind, creative, and intelligent. I will work collaboratively with you to identify your goals and recognize your strengths. In therapy, I treat you with kindness, dignity, and compassion. You’ll uncover new insights and challenge yourself to grow. I believe cultural identity is integral to the treatment process. I have extensive training and experience in working with survivors of trauma, those diagnosed with PTSD, and anxiety disorders.

I specialize in working with my peers in the LGBTQIA+ community. I proudly serve those in the transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary communities. Whether you are in the beginning stages of questioning your gender and/or sexual identity or have been out for many years and looking for ways to celebrate your identity(ies), my hope is that therapy offers a place to process all the hurt, joy, and trauma - free from judgement.

Additionally, I specialize in working with survivors of trauma. This includes sexual trauma, childhood trauma, emotional abuse, intimate partner violence and abuse, race-based trauma, suicide, and complex grief. I obtained my trauma counseling certificates (I & II) from UW-Milwaukee.

My passion lies in serving folks in the LGBTQIA+ community as you navigate life transitions, relationship difficulties, life after trauma, and healing your attachment wounds. I encourage the use of mindfulness, self-compassion, values-work, and setting actionable goals to help you grow and progress.

Experience

I have been in practice since 2013. I have worked in many settings including hospital-based care (partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs), as a case manager, and in the outpatient setting.

Working in many different levels of care allows me to have a great understanding of systems and keeps me connected to community resources should we need to use them.
